Contact Information to All of Our Northern Members

For those who are planning to return to your northern home for the summer, we have made it easier for you to stay in contact with CCCGC.

Firstly, all issues of the Charlotte Bytes will be available on the website in the member area immediately after publication. So, if you are not a signed up member of the website, please send an email to the webmaster so that you can get a user name and password. As always, your copies may be sent to you at your northern address, but at extra charge if outside the United States.

Secondly, we have Internet phone service provided by Vonage. Vonage has recently introduced a program where they offer access points to call a Vonage number, called V-access. You can find the nearest V-access number by going to http://tinyurl.com/2vd39q .

Then look for the box labeled “Find an Access Number” Simply select the Country, then each option as it is presented. Example if you live in Toronto, Canada, select Canada, then Ontario, then Area Code 905 or 647. Sorry 416, the original Area Code for Toronto is some how not listed. If we assume that you live in Area Code 905, several V-access numbers are presented.

Then to call CCCGC, you first dial one of the access numbers, example (905) 228-2029, then at the prom[t, dial the CCCGC number (941) 240-2661. You will reach the Cultural Center switchboard where you ask to be connected to extension 244.

Simple as that, and you are connected without incurring long distance or international charges. Assuming, of course, that the access number that you selected is a free call from your northern home. The example I gave was for Canada, but the service is also available for anyone in the US, Italy, France, Spain, Mexico, and the UK.

You might also consider paying dues in advance if your membership expires while you are away. We hate to lose members for even a few months, but if you must leave, please be sure to join us again when you return.

May Computer Drawing

As a fundraiser to provide the money to obtain parts for the rebulding of computers for donation, we are building one computer each month and offering tickets to the membership for $5.00 each. Your chances of getting a computer for $5.00 depend on the number of tickets sold.
Only members of CCCGC may purchase tickets, so if you are a visitor to the site, and would like to participate, please join.
You can buy tickets for the drawing, and apply for membership at the CCCGC Office. Click the Maps/Meeting tab in the top navigation bar for address and directions.
Yvette Pilch, our treasurer has issued the following memo regarding the May offering

Hurry, Hurry !!!!
The May drawing is under way. Tickets are going fast!!!
The Computer System is:
HP - with XP Home Edition
2033 Mghz Intel Pentium 4
Memory is 512 MB Ram
60 Gig Hard Drive
Speakers, DVD Rom and CD Writer, etc.
Great Fast Machine
Tickers are abailable at the Office at $5.00 each or 3 for $10.00
If you have questions, call 766-1664
Drawing will be held on May 2, 2006 at 10.00 a.m. in the Office.
Winner will be announced at the May 2nd meeting.

This is an excellent opportunity to get an upgraded computer and at the same time help CCCGC in their efforts to build computers for those that need them. Some of us cannot contribute time, or don't have the technical skills to help with the actual rebuilds. This is a way everyone can help in this important undertaking.

Thank you

Going Back North?

Many members of CCCGC go back north for the summer months. If you are among this group please take a moment and let our membership chairman, Aaron Rennert <arennert3@comcast.net> know so he can make sure you continue to receive your copy of "Charlotte Bytes" The Post Office will not forward "Charlotte Bytes" to you.

If your membership is due to expire while you are gone, please consider renewing now. This serves two purposes: CCCGC has a more balanced flow of resources, and the continuity of your membership is assured. Whatever you decide, please have a safe journey north, and be sure to rejoin us in the fall.

Just let Aaron know when you expect to return, so he can alter his mailing list accordingly.
