FEBRUARY 7th Program:

The big topic right now is Medicare Part D. The new prescription drug coverage goes into effect January 1, but the enrollment period continues until May 15, so it may or may not still be pertinent, especially for those well-versed in computer use. (The easiest way to choose a plan is via computer.)

I could start out with Medicare Part D, and if there isn't that much interest in it, move into information about AARP.
I have an interesting 12-minute video on AARP that I could show if you have equipment.

My background: 12 years on the AARP Board during which I was a national officer for 8 years: vice president, president-elect, president (2000-2002) and then immediate past president, "retiring" in 2004. But I'm still involved as a state AARP spokesperson on issues such as Social Security and Medicare, and president of our local AARP Chapter #80.
In 1990, Gov. Lawton Chiles asked me to chair a committee to get a Department of Elder Affairs established, which I did. I then served as chair of the new Department's Advisory Council for five years, resigning when my national AARP responsibilities increased.
