Special Interest Groups (Sigs) Now called Classes.
When we lost the use of a room for our classes, we tried to hold small classes in the office but that did not work out well. The search for a room to use went on but classes did not, in most cases. Oh, the PigSig continued and so did the Genealogy Discussion Group which met at the Library. In April of 2000, we were offered a room, free of charge, in a building owned by one of our members. The room was in the Enterprise Car Rental building in Punta Gorda. It required a lot of work to put it in condition for use as a classroom. Volunteers were needed and they showed up to do the cleaning, painting and renovations. It took some time to ready the room for our classes. Len Harvey directed the renovation project. The first classes were held in February of 2001. Since then, additional equipment has been installed. Students now have access to "hands on" experience as well as lectures by instructors.
These free classes are for members only. Thank you H.G.

Following is a list of the classes that were held in the new sig room. Some are currently running. Whenever enough members ask for a class and we can locate an instructor, a new class will be formed.

Meeting Night Classes
On our monthly meeting nights, classes are held prior to the general meeting. These classes are available, free, to members and guests. The advanced class was conducted by Jerry Franzman until late in 2003 when he had to leave because of business outside of the group. Carl Argabright then stepped in and is currently the advanced class instructor.
The beginners class is run by John Palmer. Both classes are well attended.
