CCCGC Offices
Notice to relocate our office and storage room came in March of 2000.
The office we were currently using, near the Friends of the Library bookstore was scheduled to become an additional classroom to be used by the Culture Center. The storage area was designed for a different use also. Our group was assigned a small room to be used as a temporary office for a couple of years until reconstruction of the culture center was completed. At the same time, we were promised a more fitting office and storage area in the layout of the reconstructed area. A temporary office was provided for the group, next to the Trash and Treasures shipping and receiving dock. We had limited time to make the move. It began on May 11, 2000 and in just one weekend, volunteers, spearheaded by Len Harvey, moved the complete office inventory, furniture and supplies. Phil Tinsley, office staff coordinator, was ready for business Monday morning.
The next move was in 2003. After being notified that space was now available in the refurbished area of the Trash and Treasure section of the Culture Center, it was necessary to make the room suitable for our use. That required building shelves, work stations and storage facilities for all the donated computers, printers, monitors, etc. Furniture had to be assembled and various project performed to make the room suitable for an office and work area. Volunteers completed the project and the move to the present location was done on the July 4th weekend. The size of the area is not as large as we hoped for, however it is a great improvement over what we had. The facility now is very visible for anyone visiting the culture center.
