Meeting Places
We have been meeting at the Port Charlotte United Methodist Church on the corner of Quesada and Viscaya Avenues in Port Charlotte since July of 1991. The facility seems to meet our needs and it provides adequate parking.

Membership Count
Membership in the CCPCUG remains fairly constant. It has varied from 425 to over 550 members in the past five years. You can safely say that we have a membership of over 500 members. We loose a few but we also attract new members each month. Aaron Rennert remains on as our membership Chairperson along with his other duties.

Name Change
Our new name is Charlotte County Computer Group Corp. (CCCGC)
AKA Charlotte County Personal Computer Users’ Group (CCPCUG)
The reason for the change is that we received approval from the United States Postal
Service to mail the “Bytes” as a non-profit organization. The name change was
required as a result of the request for non-profit status.

By-Laws
The 2001 By-Laws were amended as follows:
Amendment Number One, approved by the membership November 5, 2002.
Amendment Number Two, approved by the membership September 2, 2003.

A Not-For-Profit Corporation
The following was submitted by Len Harvey.

WE ARE NOW TAX EXEMPT AND ARE NON-PROFIT
Procedure involved for Applications for recognition by the State of Florida and the Internal Revenue Service.
Confusion existed as to whether or not we had made any filings regarding non-profit previously so we started anew:
July 17 2003 - New Articles of Incorporation were filed with the State and a new name, “Charlotte County Computer Group Corporation”.
July 22, 2003 - The State accepted our request and recognized the new charter.
The request to the IRS ensued requiring many phone calls and letters covering a span of two months wherein we were required to do the following:
Amend the charter as requested and have it accepted by the State of
Florida, then forward the acceptance notification to the IRS.
IRS required a list of our activities and the percentage of each during
The course of a year. Also a form showing our income and expenses for
The years 2001 thru 2003.
File form 872-C establishing the first tax year as the calendar year
2002.
December 19, 2002 – We received our recognition by the IRS under section 501 © 3.
February 26, 2003 – Form DR-5 was filed with the State for Certificate of Exemption. We are now recognized as tax deductible with the State and have our tax exemption authorization.

The CCCGC is now recognized as a non-profit organization. Along with that, we have the United States Post Office approval for non-profit indicia. This was brought about thanks to Len Harvey, Aaron Rennert, Lydia Rist and Lou DeMatteo. Lou DeMatteo handled the paper work for the Post Office to enable us to be recognized as Non-Profit.
