or two who were just interested in computers. After a couple of hours of discussion, we decided to start a computer club. Jack Hackett, the attorney, came back at the next meeting with the bylaws. We passed them and were in business. The group ganged up on Bill Millholland and made him president for the first couple of years. He was the glue that held us together. We grew very slowly for the first few years. I served as president between Charlie Caniff and Rodney Treloar in the late 80's. By this time we had a substantial increase in membership. We were still feeling our way and slowly moving towards the club we have today. I was the first Life Member of the organization. I am quite pleased with the tremendous changes I have seen from day one to the present day. It is due to the work of many dedicated people who take the time to do all the things that are necessary for a smooth running club. Those kind of people make the President's job very pleasant."

Rodney Treloar
1990

Rodney Treloar was the founder of Discount Computers in Port Charlotte. The 1st SIG Group, Telecommunications was formed under his leadership. Prior to being elected President, Rodney served as Club Librarian in 1988. In 1989 he was President Elect and Program Chairman. He took over as CCPCUG President in 1990. Rodney also operated his own bulletin board and conducted computer classes. Rodney moved out of the area but was recently found working in Texas. Here's what he had to say: "Don't remember much from the old CCPCUG but I had a great time and made a lot of friends there. The club members helped keep Discount Computers going and the bills paid. I remember the night that no one had a key to the meeting room in the bank in Punta Gorda. What a night that was! There were only 20 members when I joined the group. I now work for Dell Computer Corporation in Round Rock, Texas. Great place to work. I have my MCP & MCT from Microsoft. 100% of my job is on the Internet all day. My title now is Team Leader, Warranty Parts Internet Processing.
