"I am one of the original members of the CCPCUG. I attended the second organizational meeting. Since there had not been a selection of Officers, Bill Millholland, who was organizing the group, asked for volunteers. I put down, "anywhere you need help". As a result, I became the first
Secretary/Treasurer, which sort of included the membership chair also. When Bill decided to relinquish the Presidency, I was his replacement. At that time, we were meeting in the Midway School. There were about 13 to 18 people who attended the meetings. After I became president, we made arrangements to meet in the Community Room of the First Federal Building on Taylor Road in Punta Gorda. While we were meeting there, our membership grew. When I turned the Presidency over to Gene Davis, we had about 30 people attending the meeting. I became Secretary/Treasurer again. From that point on, the membership increased until we outgrew the Community Room. We have since outgrown a number of meeting places."

"I joined the group in the late 80's as one of the first members and found it to be a wonderful place for individuals to get the answer to almost any question. With my experience as a Programmer/Analyst with Burroughs Corp., I felt that I could be of assistance in getting the club moving, so I ran for President. During my term as President, we worked on increasing our membership. We expanded the newsletter (using PrintShop). We took turns bringing in a computer to the meetings. The club did not have a computer at that time. Typical monthly programs were:
Use of copy, format, diskcopy and other commands. How to setup CMOS, config.sys and autoexec.bat. Communicating from computer to computer using 300 baud modems. It's been great fun and the future of computers and the CCPCUG is fantastic."
